We were acutely aware of the sensitivity surrounding this project, not only because of the fragility of the trees, but also because the people involved felt that these palms belonged to all Adelaidians.
The project was undertaken to facilitate the road widening of Robe Terrace and involved root pruning the palms 3-4 months prior to lifting them, watering weekly and the application of root hormone to stimulate root growth around the edge of the rootball, then lifting and replanting them in their new positions.
