House |

|
 |
| The
innovation house project was constructed as
part of the upgrade for the new government
technology building at Mawson Lakes. It required
complete demolition of existing landscape
and roads and the rebuilding of an area that
is functional, practical and aesthetically
pleasing. Features of the project are a continual
flow water feature that snakes its way through
the lawned area and into the main lake as
well as seating designed specifically for
this project using recycled timber. The landscape
now matches the sleek and contemporary design
of the new building.

This
urban park was constructed for use by the
surrounding residents in the Mawson Lakes
precinct. As there are many residential
properties bordering this park it was essential
that the park functioned not only as a park
but also as a thoroughfare for residents
wanting to travel by foot to different parts
of the development as the park is approximately
twenty metres wide and five hundred metres
long.
The
project involved removal of existing stands
of casurina, reshaping of surfaces, and
the rebuilding of footpaths, electrical,
irrigation, lawned areas, minimal
garden beds, drainage, installation of bollards
and mature trees and the building
and installation of a Meeting area
bordered by low walls with seating.

| Morphetville
Wetlands |
| |
|
 |
|
The
morphetville wetland has been designed to
filter stormwater runoff from the surrounding
roads. The water flows through the wetlands,
is Cleansed by the aquatic planting
and surrounding microclimate, and then discharged
into the patawalonga. This ensures that
the water entering the patawalonga is clean
and free from pollutants.
The
project involved minor trimming of bulk
earthworks, installation of an irrigation
system and access path around the wetland
and the planting and mulching of 75,000
plants and installation of drainage and
rip rap.
CLS
are also required to manage the project
over a twelve month period, monitoring growth
and controlling infestations of weed growth.
As a result of the construction of the wetland
it has dramatically increased the bird populations
in the area.

Technology
Park is the Jewel in the crown
for the governments new push to create an
IT Hub in the existing Mawson
Lakes precinct. The urban park that CLS
created was complex and involved and required
a great deal of time, commitment and expenditure
from CLS, the architect and the client.
The end result is nothing short of stunning
!
CLS
had to demolish the existing lake and surrounding
structures, remove extensive stands of casuarinas,
and level off the site before starting the
rebuilding process. A new lake was formed,
including a water rill that feeds the main
lake, new seating and decking that was specifically
designed for the project, electrical installation
for street and footpath lighting using Louis
Poulson light fittings, footpaths and streetscapes,
mature tree planting and installation of
irrigation system. The project has brought
new bird life into the surrounding area
as well as creating a harmonious area that
blends in with the surrounding landscape.

| Northgate Chaffey
Common |
| |
|
 |
|
Chaffey common was constructed as a "Thoroughfare
" park to link two area's within the
successful AV Jennings Northgate development.
The project required minor earthworks, installation
of footpaths and street furniture and the
construction of a water detention swale
along one side of the footpath. This was
complemented by ornamental planting of mature
tree's and garden beds. This has now transformed
what was a bleak area into a practical and
aesthetically pleasing park.

|
This courtyard was designed to make a statement
! It blends in extremely well with the refurbished
building and complements the surrounding
environment. It also shows the importance
of using mature trees - these photos
were taken only six months after the project
was completed.
The seats and decorative tiles were designed
by local artists specifically for the project.

| Robe
Terrace |
|
|
|
 |
This
project involved the transplantation of 55
heritage listed palms. 45 have been moved
to the western end of Robe Terrace with 10
going to Levi Park in Walkerville. This project
was very sensitive as the people of Adelaide
felt that they owned the palms and were very
aware of the fragile nature of the palms.
The project was undertaken to facilitate road
widening of Robe Terrace.
The job involved root pruning the palms 3-4
months prior to lifting them, watering weekly
and the application of root hormone to stimulate
root growth around the edge of the rootball,
then lifitng and replanting in the new position. |

| Westwood |

 |
| The
Westwood Housing Development has been built
on land previously occupied by 1950's housing.
The development has been designed and constructed
to be environmentally friendly using storm
water detention basins to recycle surface
water and to recharge underground aquafers.
This is the first of 8 stages. We were responsible
for earthworks, paving, rockwork, planting,
irrigation, turfing, basketball court, palm
relocation, entry architectural furniture
and maintenance. |

| Here,
we were responsible for the installation of
the mature manchurian pears. We installed
2 metre wide sections of concrete stormwater
pipe to act as a huge 'pot' in the ground
to control the spreading of the roots, and
this was then backfilled and planted, adding
the decorative bollards once the tree was
in the ground. |

| CLS
undertook excavation of medians to 400mm,
rockbreaking of asphalt and existing quarry
rubble, importing and spreading of imported
topsoil, irrigation, mature tree planting,
turfing, and brick tree surrounds. This is
a very high profile project and landscaping
is of the highest quality. Revegatation looks
great after only 12-18 months after completion. |

| The
centre-piece for a prestigious residential
development in Marion, Coventry Common provides
a landscaped focus for the surrounding houses.
AV Jennings as the site developer chose CLS
to provide excellence in the construction
of the; Coventry Common, street tree planting,
other pocket parks and the entry statement.
The landscaping component acts as a first
line marketing advantage and gives the whole
development its own "feel". |
